Yesterday and Today

I did my drawing yesterday, but turned off my computer before I remembered to document. Yesterday's contour drawing was of crumbled paper. I enjoy doing the crumbled paper contours because the paper is easily acquired and cheap. And I don't have to worry about wanting to move my hand as when I do contours of my hand. That being said, today I did an upclose contour of my hand wrinkles.
I was very tired when I did yesterday's drawing, it's not nearly as detailed as some of the other contour drawings I've done.

Contour Drawing - Hand

I missed yesterday because I was too busy playing Sims 3. I should have drawn before I opened the game. The time passed so quickly and before I knew it, the time was almost 3am. I didn't do double duty. Just a "quick" contour drawing. It's so hard to train your hand to become your eye. Sometimes I enjoy the contour drawing as a meditative process, other times, well it's frustratingly slow.

Gesture Drawings Continued

Today's assignment was 25 gesture drawings. I had some trouble with this set of poses, because the model was on a stool. The drawings seemed unbalanced.

Gesture Drawing

I worked through 15 gesture drawings today. I don't have a model, so I work with a nude figure reference book. The timer is set for about 1 minute. It's definitely helped increase my rendering speed.

Contour Drawings

I've been working with the Natural Way to Draw book. I'm not following the three hours a day schedule. It's more like one assignment at a time. Today was a half an hour of contour drawing.
This is one of my drawings. It was crumbled piece of paper.

Not Day One

I'm going to be documenting my daily sketch journal. My goal is to sketch everyday, but I'm going to start out with just for 30days.
This drawing was a jump start drawing. I wanted to follow someone's directions. I used the body template from Character Costume Figure Drawing by Tan Huaixiang. Amazing book, highly recommended!
